Students of the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics of the Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU), who are pursuing the “Mathematics-Physics” and “Mathematics-Informatics” double major, paid a visit to the Experimental Research Laboratory of the Institute of Mechanics at the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia (NAS RA).
Leading researcher, PhD in Geological Sciences, Professor Sargis Hayroyan introduced the students to the Laboratory’s activities and shared information about the main stages of design and calculations of reservoirs under construction in the Republic of Armenia, as well as the approaches to modeling of their foundations and selection of materials, depending on the site for construction.
The students received answers to their questions of interest during a discussion and, according to an agreement that was reached, the students will be present during the scientific experiments conducted in the Laboratory during their next visit.
Head of the Chair of Mathematics and its Teaching Methods Lusine Ghulghazaryan attached importance to the cooperation with the Institute of Mechanics and the enshrining of this cooperation through a memorandum. According to the Professor, these meetings help students use their knowledge in solving problems that depict natural phenomena which, in its turn, will foster effectiveness of teaching in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) disciplines.
