KHACHATUR ABOVYAN ARMENIAN STATE PEDAGOGICAL UNIVERSITY

Girls’ futsal competitions were held on May 2-5 within the framework of the Republican Student Sport Games of RA Higher Educational Institutions. Teams from five universities, including that of Armenian State Pedagogical University, participated in the tournaments. 

The ASPU team performed well showing good results in various games and beating the teams of other universities. In the long run, the team of Armenian State Pedagogical University after Khachatur Abovyan came first after beating its strongest rival – the team of Vanadzor Pedagogical University – in the decisive tense game. The decisive score for the team was garnered by the team’s forward Greta Grigoryan who was recognized the best striker of the current tournament: she kicked 6 goals during the tournament.

Suren Barseghyan, the coach of the ASPU team who also heads the Chair of Chess and Sports, says the traditional sports games aim to activate sports clubs of different higher educational institutions, increase the level of students' preparedness, their technical and tactical skills and abilities. The coach is hopeful that these abilities can be later applied during training and preparation of students for universiades and European student sports games.
