The team of the Department of Informatics of Armenian State Pedagogical University has successfully entered the semifinals of the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) which will be held on April 13, 2022 simultaneously in five cities –Yerevan, St. Petersburg, Barnaul, Almaty and Minsk. This is ICPC regional contest in the North Eurasian region. About 111 countries are involved in this regional contest, including Armenia, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and the Baltic states.
According to the results of the previous round, 13 teams were selected to represent Armenia in the competition. Each team consists of three participants.
ASPU is represented in the contest by three MA students of the Department of Informatics - Karen Hovnikyan, Artyom Poghosyan and Sona Yesayan. The team is led by Karen Petrosyan, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Assistant at the Chair of Informatics and its Teaching Methods.
The International Collegiate Programming Contest is an algorithmic programming contest for college students. Teams of three, representing their university, work to solve the most real-world problems, fostering collaboration, creativity, innovation, and the ability to perform under pressure. Through training and competition, teams challenge each other to raise the bar on the possible. Quite simply, it is the oldest, largest, and most prestigious programming contest in the world.
By the way, Vahram Dumanyan, RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, has been Regional Director of IPIC since 2001.
Not only the 12 winners of the regional stage, but also the participants of the final stage to be held in Egypt in 2023, will be determined in the course of the competition.
