KHACHATUR ABOVYAN ARMENIAN STATE PEDAGOGICAL UNIVERSITY

Karine Danielyan, Head of the Chair of Ecology and Sustainable Development at ASPU, recently participated in a Budapest-hosted conference dedicated to the process of localization of the sustainable development goals in the Europe and Central Asia region. The event was attended by representatives of the expert communities and the governments of the countries in the Europe and Central Asia region.

The participants discussed the implementation and localization of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals supported by 169 targets, the achievements and problems encountered in the process as well as the possible ways to solve them.

Special attention was paid to regional issues and ways of overcoming obstacles with joint efforts. The participants stressed that it is important to increase the environmental awareness of local people, promote and implement education for sustainable development.

In this context, they highly appreciated the experience of Armenian State Pedagogical University, particularly the role of the Chair of Ecology and Sustainable Development and the corresponding educational department. At the request of the participants, ASPU representative presented the list of professional courses which are taught by the specialists of the Chair.
