The state graduation exam-concert of the 4th year students of the Department of Dance at the Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU) was held at Hakob Paronyan Musical Comedy Theater.
The head of the Chair of Choreographic Pedagogy is Karen Gevorgyan, and the dance instructors are Srbuhi Mikayelyan, Armine Tadevosyan and Artur Danielyan.
The exam-concert serves as a unique account to present the entry of the new generation of future dance instructors-pedagogues and ballet masters into professional dance.
This year, students presented to the audience the plot of film director Albert Mkrtchyan’s film “Big Win” (Khoshor Shahum) in the language of dance. The concert-performance featured a brief entertaining story with interpretations authored by Head of the Chair of TV-Radio Journalism, screenwriter Levon Galstyan. Through dances, the audience witnessed a story which they couldn’t tell whether it was about sincerity of man or inadmissible naivety, and they couldn’t tell who the protagonist was — an adult who had remained a child, or a bright and sad child who looked like an adult…
ASPU Rector Srbuhi Gevorgyan congratulated the graduates on the wonderful embodiment of the dance performance and expressed gratitude to Professor Karen Gevorgyan and the professors of the dance teaching methodology professors for the wonderful idea and for providing magnificent quality.
“It seems that the times have intertwined, and we saw the major appreciation of the audience — sharing feelings, perception, trust, values that seem to lack today. Thanks to Karen Gevorgyan and the professors of dance pedagogy, today the bridge of generations reminds us of the high level of rational choice and of choice of values of social interaction by the graduates of the Chair of Choreographic Pedagogy,” the Rector remarked, wishing the Chair brilliant performances.
Let us mention that the commission was evaluating the final certification exam for choreographic pedagogy.
Head of the Chair of Choreographic Pedagogy and its Teaching Methods Karen Gevorgyan congratulated the graduates and mentioned that every year there is a mix of emotions and pride and they become values, and cultural values become in-depth and remnant when what inspires them is its spirit.
“Our students will be entering a new stage in their lives and will be facing many obstacles. The Armenian State Pedagogical University has armed them with knowledge and skills that will help them overcome all those obstacles, and the obstacles and challenges facing a cultural person are inevitable,” Karen Gevorgyan remarked and proudly noted that the graduates are the strength of the Chair since they don’t leave the University and join the ranks of the professors later. “Our students are our present, not the past,” he added.
At the end of the event, the audience was in for a surprise; the main performers of the dance-performance, with the logic of “big win”, gifted a little memento telling about the memorable day to a randomly selected person from the audience.
The “Big Win” film-concert ended with a performance of the Armenian kochari dance.
