“Blood Wedding” Performed by the Students

On the International Women’s Day, the ASPU third-year students of TV Directing performed the “Blood Wedding” directed by Professor Aida Hovhannisyan.

Love, fight, and parental efforts to maintain the untainted honour lay in the heart of the performance staged on the basis of the famous tragedy of the prominent Spanish dramatist Federico Garcia Lorca.

However, on the one hand are the incidents and events that prove that it is truly a tragedy to separate the loving hearts, and on the other hand is the gentleman’s honour, which should be even more unstained than a white sheet laid under the Sun.

Sound of horse hoofs, a gloomy bride, guests, a fatal morning for both families that was later on supposed to turn into a “Blood Wedding” and tragedy, as whatever gets into the loving heart cannot be extracted.

The screenwriter Aida Hovhannisyan confessed in her interview to the old.aspu.am that it was rather difficult to stage such a performance with students; she had worked a lot on the performance, the work with the students, though, was short.

“I did my best to involve all students of the group in the process of staging the performance, including the Director’s Assistant and even the smallest role for a professional work. I am full of hope for the majority of the group to be successful in their future professional field of activities, as they have all the necessary prerequisites”, mentioned Aida Hovhannisyan and added that staging a performance on the beautiful spring holiday had already become a tradition.
