KHACHATUR ABOVYAN ARMENIAN STATE PEDAGOGICAL UNIVERSITY

His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, has received a delegation from San José State University (SJSU) led by SJSU President Mary Papazian. The guests were accompanied by Professor Ruben Mirzakhanyan, Rector of Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU).

Mr. Mirzakhanyan briefed the Armenian Catholicos on the newly established partnership between the two educational institutions and said it would open up new opportunities for students.

His Holiness Karekin II blessed the initiative of the two universities and expressed hope that it would be effective and helpful in educating younger generations. The Catholicos of All Armenians stressed that Armenian families have always paid great attention to education which has played an important role in the life of Armenians.

Mary Papazian, President of San José State University, also stressed the importance of deepening and developing relations between the two universities.

During the meeting, Karekin II presented the guests the activities of schools operating under the auspices of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadin as well as the training and preparation of future clergymen.

According to a press release of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, the meeting was attended by Superintendent of Gevorgyan Spiritual Lyceum, Rev. Archimandrite Garegin Hambardzumyan.
