The one-month training programme for teachers of the Armenian Diaspora was wrapped up; this year it involved 62 teachers from 15 countries.
The RA Minister of ES Mr. Arayik Harutyunyan congratulated them and granted certificates ensuring permanent support to the teachers of the Armenian Diaspora in educational processes.
“You create the Armenian personality both in Armenia, and in the Diaspora. Improvement of the process of professional capacity building training sessions for teachers of the Armenian Diaspora is one of the most important objectives for us”, mentioned the Minister and added that as a result of training programmes held since 2000, teaching principles and methods had changed, thus improving the quality of education.
Besides, next to the obvious and tangible outcomes, the ES Minister emphasized the numerous tasks they still needed to complete, and added that the trainings should be more targeted and reflect the professional needs of the teachers of Diaspora, as well as should pursue the process of compiling textbooks, in the process of which the Pedagogical University also had a big stack.
In his turn, the Rector of the Pedagogical University Mr. Rouben Mirzakhanyan also congratulated the teachers of the Diaspora and outlined that the given phase of the training session was accompanied with a major factor: it coincided with the tangible changes taking place in the country, which rose great excitement in the Diaspora.
“During the programme you made trips, had meetings and got trained. I hope that you will convey the impressions and warm memories that you gained here to the children of the Diaspora, who are so much interested in and concerned with their homeland”, mentioned the Rector and expressed acknowledgements for their selfless dedication to this patriotic task.
Further on, the Director of the “Diaspora” [Spyurq] research centre Mr. Souren Danielyan highlighted the role and support of the RA Ministry of Education and Science in the process of trainings, where the Pedagogical University also demonstrated considerable assistance.
“The University undertook the significant role of inspiring and training the teachers of the Diaspora with the Armenian spirit. We believe that as committed soldiers you will be able to return to the Armenian schools with a more cheerful spirit and bring back warm memories from your renovated homeland,” the Professor added.
Moreover, Mr. Gevorg Petikyan from the USA expressed acknowledgements on behalf of education representatives from 16 countries for the successful organization of the programme and stressed out that they were doing their best to pass the Armenian national values to the Armenian children back in their countries.
“Teacher is a grateful title” As volunteering soldiers having replenished the Mashtots’ army they are much concerned with the question of who will continue their work in 10-20 years’ time, who will be passing over the rays of Armenian thought and light. The difficult work of conveying the national spirit and meaning lies on the shoulders of Armenian teachers.”
In addition, Mr. Gevorg Petikyan assured on everybody’s behalf that during those days they had been able to bring together all of their concerns about education, all their worries, but never got disappointed thanks to the noble appeal of teacher’s title.
To conclude, we’d like to mention that the training prgramme for the teachers of the Armenian Diaspora was conducted in 6 learning groups, including the group for kindergarten teachers, elementary teachers, one-day school teachers, as well as teachers of Armenian Language and Literature, continuous learning courses, and History of Armenia.
