KHACHATUR ABOVYAN ARMENIAN STATE PEDAGOGICAL UNIVERSITY

Thirteen choirs from Armenia and abroad have participated in the 15th international art competition-festival of Arts ("Art Music") which is held in Armenia every year.

The special vocal-choir of voice protection (children ages 6 to 10 years) led by Conductor Kristine Khachikyan, Assistant Professor at the Chair of Music Education of Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU), was awarded first-degree laurate.

Kristine Khachikyan is proud that lecturing did not prevent her from working with children and today in addition to being a distinguished lecturer she is also a successful conductor. Let us add that the professional choir is one of a kind in the region. Led by conductor Kristine Khachikyan the choir has performed on various stages of the world presenting the Armenian choral art with honour.

Kristine Khachikyan says she did not expect the choir to win as they had strong competitors. "For 25 years now, I have been successfully sharing my experience my students the future conductors. The school-university relationship is doubly important, as very often many children in the choir continued their studies in the Chair of Conducting at ASPU,” she said emphasizing the importance of university education in the development of choral arts.
