Conference ahead of MA thesis defense

A conference on Master’s degree courses was organized by the initiative of the Chair of Professional Education and Applied Pedagogy.

The conference entitled “Contemporary issues in Pedagogy and Solutions” was attended by MA students of the Faculty of Education Psychology and Sociology and Faculty of Primary Education. On the eve of the thesis defense the conference was another opportunity to reveal and discuss the issues in pedagogy and psychology, discuss the topics of the theses and present some observations.

The students referred to the opportunities for organizing work-based learning in Armenia, pedagogical practice as a means of forming professional competences of students, development of volunteering opportunities in alternative care and other issues. In their reports, the participants touched upon the current issues in general education and social pedagogy.

Aida Topuzyan, Head of the Chair of Professional Education and Applied Pedagogy stressed the importance of the conference. “Pedagogy is a constantly changing science. Education likes the evolutionary, rather than revolutionary way, that’s why we can’t create the new, unless we value the old,” the Professor said. She assured everyone that everything is done to make the University a hearth not only for education, but also for research.

She expressed hope that the conference will help solve issues faced by universities and higher education.

Heghine Khachatryan, Dean of the Faculty of Primary Education, said the results of the research will be the changes which are predicted in the field of pedagogy.

“The world develops rapidly and pedagogy does not like stability,” she said. The dean added that the reports will contribute to making changes in the field, improving the readiness of MA students and increasing knowledge. She assured everyone that organization of similar large-scale events is part of the Faculty's educational and research process.
