An interuniversity conference of young scientists entitled "Youth and the Horizons for Researching Natural Sciences" was held at the initiative of the Faculty of Biology, Chemistry and Geography of Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU).

The event brought together representatives of various scientific and educational institutions, including ASPU, the "ArmBiotechnology" Scientific and Production Center of the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) of Armenia, the Scientific and Technological Center of Organic and Pharmaceutical Chemistry, the Scientific Center of Zoology and Hydroecology, Institute of Geological sciences of NAS, Ararat State Medical College, schools from Yerevan and marzes (provinces).

ASPU Vice-Rector for Educational Processes Naira Safaryan emphasized the importance of the conference and voiced hope that the presented topics and the discussions around them will have a positive impact on the participants’ scientific activity. Speaking about the replenishment of educational institutions with laboratory equipment, the work carried out in Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), and the opportunities to specialize in the STEM discipline, the ASPU vice-rector emphasized the importance of their use in educational processes and the development of the field.

"The 21st century is the century of biology," said Sirine Shogheryan, Dean of the Faculty of Biology, Chemistry and Geography. She added that young people have been given a scientific platform to identify and present current issues in Natural Sciences and bring under one roof all those who are interested in them and who will contribute to the progress of science with their proposals and solutions.

Participants of the plenary session of the interuniversity conference of young scientists presented their findings on various topics in their reports. The conference continued in subsections.

Speaking about the conference, Acting Head of the Chair of Biology, Chemistry and their Teaching Methods, Professor Samvel Pipoyan, said the aim is to give students an opportunity to present their works on a scientific level.

He emphasized the importance of interactions with guests from universities and centers and stressed that the scientific community should be aware that ASPU is not only engaged in pedagogical activity: students with excellent academic performance are active on other platforms as well. Samvel Pipoyan voiced hope that the conference will help participants gain experience and skills in research paper writing and allow them to take more confident steps in higher platforms in the future.
