Today, a bilateral agreement was signed between the Armenian State Pedagogical University after Khachatur Abovyan and Pazmany Peter Catholic University of Hungary; aimed at stimulating cooperation and academic exchange; the agreement was ratified by the Rectors of the Universities

Rouben Mirzakhanyan and Suromi Sabolch.

The ASPU Rector highlighted the importance of cooperation with one of the oldest educational centres of Europe noticing that still in 2013 the University received the national governmental title.

Likewise, Rouben Mirzakhanyan was glad to mention that on that day the students and professors of both Universities had met and received patriarchal blessing from the Catholicos of all Armenians Garegin II.

“We see a great sacrament and meaning in the fact that the cooperation is set prior to the visit of the Roman Pope to Armenia. I assume the cooperation agreement will grant large opportunities such as the establishment of a Chair of Armenian Studies, exchange programmes for professors and students, provision of MA course, etc.”

In his turn the Rector of the Pazmany Peter Catholic University of Hungary, Professor Suromi Sabolch expressed his acknowledgements for the cordial welcome and mentioned that he was observing the signing of the agreement as a distinctive bridge not only between the two Universities, but also between the both countries.

“You have many smiling young people here; I am assured that we have a lot more to learn from each other; while through the bilateral educational and cultural programmes we will be carrying out things that other political figures had been unable to do.”

The signing of the agreement was followed by the delegation’s visit to the ASPU Museum, where they got acquainted with the University’s history and chronology.

During the presentation the Professor referred to his studies conducted in this sphere sharing with his assurance that ecclesiastical laws in Armenian language had served as a basis for the world ecclesiastical laws”.

During the lecture, all those present asked Suromi Sabolch their questions regarding a number of controversial facts in the church history.

“I must confess that it’s the first time I am meeting a 44 years old Doctor who defended a fourfold Doctorate thesis. You are a scientist with a wide authority and acknowledgement whose lectures are known to the world’s leading Universities. You had 280 participations in international prestigious conferences and your today’s lecture was quite impressive”, mentioned Rouben Mirzakhanyan and assured that the Chairs of Armenian Studies would have their contribution in the development of Armenology bearing in mind also the cooperation with the Pazmany Peter Catholic University.

In return, Suromi Sabolchi expressed his acknowledgements for receiving such honour mentioning that he wouldn’t like to give many promises- everything would be fulfilled in practice.

The visit of the delegation to the University was concluded with a cultural event; the RA Minister of ES was also present therein.
