On June 9, 2nd and 3rd year students from different faculties presented the works created during the pedagogical practices, their goals, field of use and necessity.
The initiative of the Chair of Education was a kind of report for the students that summarized the results of the practices. As Head of the Chair Aida Topuzyan said it was an opportunity to share experience, listen to opinions on the work done, correct shortcomings, and develop creativity.
The Professor stressed the role of practice in education, particularly in universities. The leading specialists of the field also emphasize its importance in training future teachers.
The experienced pedagogue believes that one will never become a good specialist without good practices. She says the university leadership often address the issue, but there is still a lot to be done in order to form a different attitude [among students] towards practices on their way of becoming a good pedagogue. "Very often, students are unable to apply theoretical knowledge in practice whereas the teaching process is based on the tools, i.e. on the methods, which determine the teaching process," Aida Topuzyan said and added that she often asks students what suggestions and observations they have for improving the process.
Along with the presentation of the didactic materials, the students expressed their opinions about the process of pedagogical practices.
Many of the future educators emphasized that the practice and their daily searches and endeavours contributed to their self-improvement and helped them find methods. Also, and thanks to the use of quiz games, cartoons, exercises and posters, they discovered and developed children's thinking, abilities and skills.
Development of creativity and volitional qualities, gaining knowledge and cooperation skills, fear of making mistakes, lack of opportunities for self-expression, difficulties in organizing group work: the students listed the weaknesses and strengths of the process, once again emphasizing its exceptional role and importance in the formation of a good specialist and its application in work.
