Within the framework of cooperation of the ASPU Faculty of Philology and Khoren and Shoushanik Avetisyan School, an event was organized to mark the 120th anniversary of birth and 80th commemoration of decease of Yeghishei Charents.
During the matinee dedicated to the illustrious poet the students and pupils presented a performance telling about the tragic image of Charents as a human and as a poet, and about his poetic gift.
Recitation of Charents’ monologues, accompanied by the tunes of the piano and guitar, were from time to time interrupted with musical and poetic performances.
The Dean of the Faculty Ashot Galstyan highlighted in his speech that the event once again proved that the school- university connection was strong and highly important.
In his turn, the Head of the Cahir of Modern and New Armenian Literature, Professor Souren Danielyan assured that all those present at the event perceived and discovered Charents from new angle.
“They are preserving the spirit of Charents in their souls”, mentioned Mr. Souren Danielyan and advised to the pupils to raise literature to the heights of Charents.
“Literature is good, memories are good. Let’s love our nation, our eminent figures and introduce them to the whole world”, mentioned the Director of the school Melanya Geghmyan and added that a few days before they had visited Kars, where Charents had lived for four years and saw his ruined house in a rather poor condition.
