The ASPU Faculty of Foreign Languages organised a meeting with foreign researchers to discuss academic honesty matters and modern fundamental principles with lecturers and students.
Current issues in the sphere of education, as well as the academic honesty and its preservation were discussed during the meeting with the Academic Manager for Student Experience at the Coventry University, UK, Irene Glendinning, IT Engineers, Researcher of the Mendel University in Brno, Czech Republic, Ditta Dlabolova and the President of the “AKOS” Cultural NGO Mkrtich Tonoyan.
Dr Glendinning presented the research conducted by the team she was in charge of, which included 27 European Universities and other educational institutions.
The research target groups were formed by the students, lecturers and administrative team members, who were involved in relevant long-term surveys, interview and research activities in other formats. The aim of the studies was to identify main issues of academic honesty in the sphere, awareness thereof, and mechanisms applied for the elimination and effective management thereof.
As a result of the research, a network of around 25 institutions was formed, which continuously implements steps planned in the research from the fact-finding, analytical and process management perspectives.
The research was approved by the all-European experts in the sphere and relevant field officials.
What is more, the expert explained the peculiarities of the current issues, the terminology, the efficient ways of perception and understanding thereof by relevant surveys among those present.
In addition, the group expressed interest to conduct such a research activity with the studnets of the Faculty of Foreign Languages. The students present responded to the suggestion with great enthusiasm and agreed to conduct the abovementioned research on the following day of the meeting.
The Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages Tigran Mickaelyan expressed acknowledgments for the hospitality, hoping for the research conducted among the studnets to be effective and to contribute to studying academic honesty matters.
We would also like to mention that among the participants of the meeting were the academic staff of the Chair of Romance-Germanic Languages and the Chair of Foreign Languages Teaching Methods, as well as the BA and MA students of the Department of English Language.
