Discussing Modern Pedagogy Issues

“Our already traditional student -lecturer joint conference on “Modern Pedagogy Issues and Solutions” is an exceptional initiative; it is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of establishment of the ASPU. For a whole century, our University has been proudly fulfiling its mission, prepared many generations of teachers, constantly served for the benefit of the Armenian schooling and for our country, as well as for the future of the nation, its development and security. We can surely state that the history of the University is merged with the history of our country”, the Head of the Chair of Pedagogy Aida Topuzyan mentioned at the opening ceremony of the conference.

Professor Topuzyan noticed that the current generation was lucky to continue the rich heritage of our ancestors in education and upbringing our people. She is also assured that the mission will be conducted with dignity and high level of conscious commitment, and the conference will become the first scientific experience for many people, which will later become the beginning of a great scientific journey.

The conference headed “Modern Pedagogy Issues and Solutions” was summarizing the content and the research outcomes of the BA graduate papers and the MA final dissertations of the Faculty of Education Psychology and Sociology and the Faculty of Primary Education, prepared jointly with the supervisor-lecturers.

Next, the ASPU Rector Srbuhi Gevorgyan highly valued the massive work conducted by the Chair of Pedagogy outlining that even today the pedagogical community of the 100-year-old University continued its devoted work on the university-society-schools platform with already formed traditions. Moreover, as Professor Gevorgyan noticed, it was aimed at fulfilling the greatest mission of developing a person and a citizen, at representing national pedagogy imbued with patriotic values in the current times of globalization.

Pedagogy, Psychology, and Teaching methodology; Srbuhi Gevorgyan once again reminded the main disciplines of the University and the founding mission of the institution.

Who is today’s hero? Who do you want to see as a hero? In reply to these rhetoric questions, the ASPU Rector noted that the participants, as those forming the new generation, developing and implementing the pedagogical mission, should try to find the responses themselves.

According to the observations of the Dean of the Faculty of Primary Education Heghinei Khachatryan, the air is simply enriched with pedagogy. The latter noticed that due to the joint efforts of students. And lecturers, numerous problems as well as a wide scope pedagogical issues were discussed at the conference.

The Dean of the Faculty of Education Psychology and Sociology Ruzanna Petrosyan expressed her hope that the initiative would set the start of a new scientific path for students, thereby making it a significant practice in this sphere.

The conference on “Modern Pedagogy Issues and Solutions” continued its work in groups. In their speeches the students referred to the impact of educational standards on the socialization of primary school children, to the learners’ knowledge assessment peculiarities in elementary schools, to upbringing diagnostics, organization and supervision of educational and methodological activities at schools.

Furthermore, the reports also included the acmeological approaches of future teachers, pedagogical conditions of developing cognitive and metacognitive skills of young school children, students’ critical thinking development features in media-education processes, analysis of strengths and weaknesses in the children’s care and protection system reforms in the RA, re-organisation of day-care institutions in the scope of social-pedagogical work aimed at the realization of a child’s right to live in a family, etc.

Summing up, interesting discussions were held during the whole conference headed “Modern Pedagogy Issues and Solutions”, which was then wrapped up with a Q&A session.
