“Both students, and the lecturers, together with the University will overcome the existing situation with greater knowledge, accomplishments and experience”, mentioned the Dean of the Faculty of History and Law Mr. Edgar Hovhannisyan in his interview to old.aspu.am. Likewise, he assured that the transition to such form of education was easily made thanks to the two-year practice on the Google Classroom platform.
According to the latter, the created system is an effective tool for organizing online education, in addition to daily classes, mid-term exams are also being held, certain forms of pedagogical internships and the defense of their final works are carried out, etc.
Distant-learning is not a novelty at the Faculty of Philology, too. With the application of the Google Classroom video-conferences are often being held with other universities, aw well as it is already the second year that this tool has also been used for Armenian language lessons with foreign students.
The Dean of the Faculty, Ashot Galstyan frequently participates in various classes. He is happy to notice that in these extraordinary conditions the teaching staff quickly got used to the process; they restructured the classes and generated new formats of delivering the lessons.
“The students’ participation in these classes is large. Only the students from distant regions are sometimes having communication issues”, assured the Dean of the Faculty and added that in the created situation there was also concern with regards to the defense of graduate papers.
In her turn, the Head of the ASPU Chair of Armenian Ancient and Medieval Literature and its Teaching Methods Aelita Dolukhanyan sincerely mentions that meeting students in person is in fact a different kind of pleasure, but distant -learning in these difficult circumstances is the only correct solution of this matter, as the process of learning and education should not be stopped.
“I would like to remind all Lecturers, students, pupils, and parents that education is equally effective in distant-learning format. Let’s not lose our expensive time and never get lazy”, added Professor Dolukhanyan.
On behalf of her fellow-students, the student of the Faculty of History and Law Tatev Arshakyan assures that despite some technical issues, which are quickly fixed by the corresponding support divisions of the University, they are able to get fully involved in the learning process, and this is the best resolution for the existing situation.
“Last but not least, this is a very good opportunity to study the advantages and disadvantages of e-learning, as well as considering it from the perspective of developing skills of working on electronic platform, and gaining experience therein. In fact, distant-learning is twice more important for teachers of the 21st century”, mentioned the future pedagogue Tatev Arshakyan.
