Doctor of Psychology, Professor Emma Alexandrian Passed Away

The ASPU long-standing Head of the Chair of Preschool Pedagogy (1961-1993), Doctor of Psychology, Professor Emma Alexandrian passed away.

Emma Alexandrian was born in 1927 in Yerevan. In 1951 she graduated from the Yerevan Pedagogical Institute of Foreign Languages after V. Brusov.

In 1956 she successfully submitted her Candidate Thesis and assumed the position of lecturer at the Armenian State Pedagogical University; in 1961 she became the Head of the Chair of Preschool Pedagogy.

In 1970 she successfully defended her Doctorate thesis and became the first female with Doctorate Degree in Armenia.

In 1988, on the very first day right after the earthquake she established the first psychological rehabilitation support center in Armenia for children and grown-ups. Psychologists from many countries got familiarized with her effectively applied methods and highly valued the results of the completed work.

What is more, she published a monograph in (Russian language), a book for parents, and textbooks. She is also the author of more than 80 articles, which had been printed in Armenia, Russia, Georgia, Ukraine, France, England, Germany etc.

In addition, she had been included in the “Business and Professional Women of the 20th Century” (Cambridge, 2003) and “Famous Scientists of the 20th Century” directories.

Emma Alexandrian’s memory as a merited pedagogue and an outstanding scientist will remain bright in the hearts of her co-workers and students.
