Earthquake Preparedness Training at ASPU

The Chair of First Aid, Emergency and Civil Protection organized special tactical training on earthquake and seismology in the third building of Armenian State Pedagogical University.

The aim of the course organized in the lead up to the 30th Anniversary of the Spitak Earthquake was to arm ASPU students and lecturers with practical skills and knowledge in parallel to theoretical knowledge.

The course held under the guidance of the fire and rescue squad of Kentron community went according to schedule: with the direct participation of future educators, the organizers gave earthquake safety tips, carried out evacuation, fire extinguishing, rescue operations and provided first aid.

Talking to old.aspu.am, Perch Karapetyan, a lecturer at the Chair of First Aid, Emergency and Civil Protection, stressed the importance of the course, saying that every citizen of an earthquake-prone country should know how to prepare, prevent and respond to natural and man-made disasters. “Knowledge will contribute to reducing natural disaster losses,” he stressed.
