Education is the most effective form of communication

On April 29, Armenian State Pedagogical University hosted a delegation from Russia which included heads and teachers of educational institutions from the Russian capital. The visit was arranged within the framework of international cooperation and national programmes aimed at implementing Russian national public policy activities [for 2015-2025].

The visit, organized on the initiative of the Russian side, was aimed at meeting the managerial and teaching staff members of the Armenian University, uniting the potential of the pedagogical community, getting acquainted with education standards of secondary and higher education institutions of Armenia, exchanging and sharing extensive pedagogical experience, developing the learning process of schoolchildren both in Armenia and Russia and forging strong ties for future cooperation.

ASPU Rector Ruben Mirzakhanyan introduced the guests the higher education institution he heads, stressing that ASPU is the largest pedagogical university for Armenians all over the world.

Mr Mirzakhanyan highlighted the existence of Armenian schools in Russia, considering the fact that Russia is home to the largest Armenian community in the world. Speaking about the friendly relations and cooperation between the ASPU and higher education institutions in Russia, ASPU Rector stressed that it is not merely a partnership between pedagogues: the sides are organizing International Summer Schools for the 4th consecutive year which is an excellent platform for students to communicate and cooperate with their peers from other countries.

Armine Arakelyan, Principal of School N967 in Moscow and the head of the delegation, stressed that education is the most effective form of communication. “It is obvious that in the era of globalization, the exchange of information, scientific research and educational achievements between professionals are the primary stimulus for economic and social success. Peculiarities of national culture, worldview of our peoples and exchange of experience are key prerequisites for the development of education systems of Armenia and Russia,” she stressed.

Armine Arakelyan stressed the importance of learning Armenian and Russian languages, which, she said, will facilitate adaptation of Armenian children to the environment in Russia and help Armenians returning to their country, overcome the language barrier.

The head of the delegation gave a Letter of Thanks to the ASPU Rector for organizing the meeting on the sidelines of an international conference and donated to the ASPU Museum a book telling about Russia’s history.

Talking to old.aspu.am, Amalya Kocharyan, a specialist at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora of the Ministry of Education and Science, also emphasized the visit saying Armenian Language, Literature and History are taught in all aforesaid schools and the move can serve as a precedent for other schools in Russia.

An international conference organized within the framework of Russian-Armenian cooperation in the education field started in Armenia on April 28. The conference will continue until May 3.

Members of the Russian delegation will visit other educational and cultural institutions as well.
