Undergraduate students of the Faculty of Art Education majoring in Fashion Design and Applied Arts today organized a fashion show during the intermediate examination in Apparel Design and Modeling, Construction and Projection of Clothing. The students appeared on the runaway in items and objects made by them.
The future fashion designers added their style to the sportswear, evening wear and casual clothes, applying their theoretical knowledge in practice.
“One needs daring to organize such fashion shows. Students unite around a common idea and objective and try their first steps in their speciality from the first year at the University,” said Anush Yeghiazaryan, Head of the Department of Design and Decorative and Applied Arts. She lauded the taste of the present generation, their perception of and attitude towards beauty and their earnest desire for beauty.
Lecturers Marine Vanyan and Hripsime Saroyan added that the joint fashion show was a good opportunity for the beginners to reveal and correct their shortcomings and faults, considering the fact that some of the students already have a more professional attitude towards modeling.
Elina Mkrtumyan, a third-year student specializing in fashion design, showed off evening dresses, winter clothing and sportswear.
Elina has already participated in various runway shows. She is convinced that student shows are the best way of displaying students’ first works to public. “The conditions created for our speciality at the Pedagogical University enable us to turn our ideas into reality on the spot,” she said.
The Department of Fashion Design will have its first graduates in 2016. In the past several years the students of the department have come up with numerous initiatives and participated in different exhibitions.
