Eduard Nuralov, a merited educator, Professor at the Chair of Russian and Foreign Literature, Candidate of Philological Sciences, would have turned 90 on July 1.
One of his main characteristics was honesty and loyalty to pedagogy and science. He was passionate about his work, knew his calling and was confident in the usefulness and importance of the research he carried out. After leaving school in 1951, Eduard Nuralov (b. in Tbilisi in 1932) studied at Yerevan Pedagogical Institute after A. Zhdanov.
In 1955, he graduated from the institute with honours and began working [as an assistant] at the Chair of Russian and Foreign Literature, at the same time taking a postgraduate course in the same Chair. In 1967, he defended his PhD thesis, in 1970, was awarded the title of Associate Professor, and in 1992 - the title of Professor.
For many years, Professor Nuralov worked in the leading universities of Armenia. headed a chair, later a faculty․ From 2004 to 2012, until the last days of his life, he worked at the Pedagogical University.
Eduard Nuralov was awarded a “Veteran of Labor” medal and "Movses Khorenatsi" gold medal, received a number of diplomas, certificates of appreciation and honour.
The scope of his scientific interests was the endless and inexhaustible legacy of famous Russian writer Lev (Leo) Tolstoy. His works "Tolstoy's Aesthetic Views", "Tolstoy's Aesthetics in Literary Criticism" were an innovation, a new phase in our literature. They have received special attention and appreciation by a number of famous Tolstoy scholars - experts in the field of Tolstoy studies.
Eduard Nuralov wrote 2 monographs, 2 textbooks, 5 books and a series of articles.
Renowned educator and philologist, Professor Eduard Nuralov passed away leaving the belief that he who is devoted to his calling can be considered "saint".
Lev Tolstoy used to say: ‘If a teacher combines love for the cause and his students, he is a perfect teacher.’ Representatives of the educational establishment [which has a history of one hundred years] who had an opportunity to know Professor Nuralov will confirm that these very lines described the famous pedagogue.
