Farewell to ABC Book

On March 20, first-formers of ASPU Primary School N57 held a solemn ceremony entitled “Farewell to ABC Book.”

Not only the pupils but also their parents and class teacher Tatevik Abrahamyan participated in the event which was accompanied by songs, dances and poems.

The trinity "student-parent-teacher" was compared with the concept “home-motherland-language,” with the participants promising to protect and preserve the Armenian alphabet created by Mesrop Mashtots both in their homeland and outside its boundaries.

In the hall, one could see and perceive the feelings and emotions of Armenian mothers living abroad, as well as the address of one of pupils’ classmates from the United States, who promised his friends and teacher [from the other side of the ocean] to learn the Armenian language properly and bear his Armenian name with pride.

At the end of the event, the six-year-olds said they had a clear understanding that Armenians have always knelt down before their land and the cross, and, bowing to their mothers and teachers, promised to show the world that there is no place more luscious and sweeter than their native land.

Talking to old.aspu.am, Tatevik Abrahamyan noted that at this age children already understand what patriotism is. She added that generations are becoming more intelligent and knowledgeable.

“Living far away from the homeland has always been painful for us, therefore we tried to combine the children’s entrance into the world of knowledge and literacy with the problems of our country for them to be able to understand that one can win his enemy with knowledge, rather than weapons,” said the distinguished teacher.

Naira Toghoyan, the principal of ASPU Primary School N57, also congratulated the ‘starlets’ on the occasion. Likewise, she congratulated the parents for helping their children overcome that difficult and important stage of life.

“Your children are entering a new phase of life – the phase of literacy. They are going to overcome a number of educational problems in the near future," Naira Toghoyan said. She wished the parents to experience more positive emotions and pride from the success and achievements of their children.
