Students majoring in fashion design had their work put under the spotlight at a catwalk show as part of their final qualifying exam.
Twenty-six BA students showcased their collections (at least three pieces of clothing) demonstrating their mastery of skills in working with different fabrics and knowledge in fashion design.
In their collection, the students focused on the national context with contemporary interpretation and solutions. The models on the catwalk were the authors and students from the Department of Dance Pedagogy.
In the creations, the future designers used elements of tapestry, rugs and embroidery and successfully combined them with a variety of clothes and garments.
Talking to old.aspu.am, Anush Karapetyan, head of the Chair of Design and Decorative Arts, said the graduates of this academic year differed from the previous ones with their audacity. “It is important to look back at the working environment of a fashion designer. It's a great achievement when students have the opportunity to see their collections on the runway,” she said. Anush Karapetyan added that the fashion show presented the collection created by students and their lecturers Lilit Melikyan, Marina Vanyan and Aram Nikoyan in one year.
The head of the Chair added that the fashion show is usually followed by an oral examination, during which students demonstrate their theoretical knowledge and speak about their collections, presenting the idea, the source of inspiration, the choice of technique and fabrics and the entire process.
