Festival of school choirs held at ASPU

A festival of school choirs initiated by Armenian State Pedagogical University in cooperation with the National Institute of Education has been held for the eleventh time this year.

As usual the festival was celebrated with great solemnity. The choirs from twelve schools were welcomed by the choir of the ASPU Primary School N57.

This year, changes were introduced in the format: the participating choirs performed separate concerts.
Professor Arkadi Shekunts said that annual festivals aim to follow the success of graduates, create new choirs and to realize the dream of [great

Armenian composer] Komitas, who wanted to see the entire nation singing.

“The organizers of the festival work with school choirs all year round, support them in all issues and choose the best ones to involve in the festival,” Arkadi Shekunts said to old.aspu.am. He added that the number of people wishing to participate in the festival has increased this year. Twelve out of the 40 choirs as well as soloists participated in the festival.

At the end of the event, the participating choirs received certificates and presents by the ASPU, as well as acknowledgement letters by the National Institute of Education.
