The final concert of the graduates of Department of Choreographic Pedagogy of the Pedagogical University took place at the National Academic Theatre after G. Sundukyan.
This year, the entry of the new generation of the 2016-2017 choreographer –pedagogues and stage direction graduates into the world of professional choreography this year was marked with a choreographic performance of Hovhannes Tumanyan’s “Nazar the Brave” with the participation of the honored dance ensemble of Armenia “Berd” together with students of other courses of the Department of Choreography.
Among those present at the concert were the RA Minister of Culture Armen Amiryan, famous figures of the sphere of choreography, art amateur guests, the University’s teaching staff and students.
From Lazy Nazar up to victory dance and the “make a feast, if you are lucky”–with 15 unique episodes of the well-known and always actual massive performance the students, with highly professional mastery, replaced Tumanyan’s wise words with the colourful language of Armenian dances, artistic dance episodes and cheerful national melodies.
The Ballet Master, the ASPU Head of the Chair of Choreography Karen Gevorgyan, who had staged Hovh. Tumanyan’s “Griqor” with the participation of one of the graduate course students group ten years before, frankly mentioned during the interview to the old.aspu.am that he had been long dreaming to stage the “Nazar the Brave” as well. On the 150th anniversary of all-Armenians’ poet his dream came true.
“The already traditional original concert –exam differs from the previous one with new dance episodes and dazzling variety of national costumes. I am sure the audience will highly appreciate it and the students, as true devotees and heirs of the art of dance, will pass over the knowledge and performing skills acquired during the four years of studies to the younger generation”.
The experienced lecturer, supervisor of the graduate course Stepan Ghambaryan noticed at the end of the performance that it was a huge responsibility to assume the position of the course supervisor for the first time; he did his best to solve the task he had and to bring the students to graduation.
The choreographer called for his students to be dabster, professional, to first of all believe in their own strength, to fulfill their assumed work and to be sure that any piece of work deriving from their personality would be successful.
The final certification examination of Choreographic Pedagogy was evaluated by the committee headed by the Director of “Taron” Art Centre, the RA honored cultural figure Hovhannes Tadevosyan.
The latter highly evaluated the activities of the Chair of Choreographic Pedagogy noticing that in none of the former USSR countries there had been such teaching quality; the summary of what they saw on the stage, as well as the oral exams passed by the students a few days before served as a proof thereof.
By the decision of the Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan, the Head of Department of Culture and Tourism of the Yerevan City Hall Rouben Hovhannisyan awarded the RA Honored Art Figure Karen Gevorgyan with the gold medal of the Mayor of Yerevan for contribution in the sphere of choreography, creation of artistic values and dissemination thereof.
