The National Academic Theatre after Gabriel Soundoukyan hosted the final reporting concert of the ASPU graduates of the Department of Dance Pedagogy.
This year, the entry of the 2017-2018 final year students, consisting of the new generation of choreographer-instructors and stage producers, to the world of professional choreography was marked with choreographic representations of the American “Step Up”, Muhsin Mahdi’s “One Thousand and One Nights”, Sergey Parajanov’s “The Color of Pomegranates”.
The performance was presented in unusual but unique dance scenarios, where the events were centered in the streets of America with the performance of stylish dancers seeking and finding the key dancer for their group. As a result, the talented girl finds herself between her beloved young man and her brother and the whole situation finishes with the victory of peace and friendship achieved through the dance.
Likewise, the future dance instructors presented exclusive scenarios for Muhsin Mahdi’s “One Thousand and One Nights” choreographic performance, referring to the Arab world, their traditions and styles.
Furthermore, Mr. Parajanov, who was famous throughout the whole world with numerous films, was presented to the dance loving audience with his masterpiece “The Color of Pomegranates” filled with strong psychological and ethnic energy. On this occasion, they managed to stay true to Prajanov’s special style by analyzing symbols to obtain love and freedom of the soul.
In his turn, the Head of the Chair of Dance Pedagogy Mr. Karen Gevorgyan highly appreciated the joint efforts made by the graduates and by the course leader, Associate Professor Gohar Abrahamyan and highlighted that the result of a year’s work was just as huge as the rattling of applauds of the audience on that day.
“The world is a window, and this concert is also a window to the students’ tomorrow, to the Armenian spirit, to the divine melody of Komitas, to Narekatsy’s prayers, and to the higher pick of dreams. This bright flow, to which the students volunteered to succumb, is called a dance”, mentioned Mr. Karen Gevorgyan and wished good luck to the new generation of choreographers.
“I urge you to keep the three important principles of the art of dance pure, and those principles are simplicity, truthfulness and intellection. I lost you there, where you vanished in the infinite, somewhere between the soul of the space and you, and the nature”, added Gohar Abrahamyan.
We would also like to mention that the scores during the final examination of the Dance Pedagogy were marked by the committee headed by the RA Honoured Art Figure Minas Khachatryan.
Among those present at the concert were the Rector of the University Rouben Mirzakhanyan, outstanding dance figures, art loving guests, and the teaching staff of the University, and students.
