Pursuant to the new order of the Armenian Minister of Education and Science, final examinations [for the 2016-2017 academic year] were also held at the ASPU Base College (High School).
ASPU Vice-Rector Mher Melik-Bakhsyan was following the examination process. The latter hailed the new format of exams, adding that it would alleviate the burden of pupils.
Talking to old.aspu.am, Head of the ASPU Base College Naira Safaryan introduced the new format of final exams, noting that the number of subjects had been reduced from 6 to 3 which would be taken at the end of the first term.
“In December, pupils will pass final exams in the subject(s) which they have not selected or will not study in the second term. In December, participants of unified state examinations will pass state final examinations in the subject(s) which they will not pass under the system of unified state examinations,” Naira Safaryan said adding that pupils should apply to the college administration in advance to be able to participate in the exams.
Speaking about the advantages of the new examination procedure, she stressed that they had great concerns in the beginning as there was little time to prepare. “I welcome the new format: the measure relieves pupils’ workload before the entrance exams. Pupils will be able to spend more time on unified state examinations without turning to tutors.”
The last examination day at the college ended with Ms. Safaryan’s New Year wishes who congratulated everyone, wishing them great achievements and success.
The assignments of the state final examinations for 12th form pupils are compiled by the Ministry of Education and Science. The scores are known on the day of examination and are posted on the Ministry’s website later in the day.
