“In Armenia, I was most of all fascinated by people’s kindness, hospitality, friendship and willingness to reach out with a helping hand which you cannot see in my country,” Yana Dobesh, a student of the Belarusian State Pedagogical University, said while sharing her impressions of the Summer School 2016 held in the Aghavnadzor-based training centre of Armenian State Pedagogical University. She added that the trip [to Armenia] had a significant role in her life: it was the first time she had been in the mountains. Besides, it was one of her cherished desires to see Mount Ararat with all its charm and beauty.
The Belarusian student has been to many places within the framework of the programme but she was particularly impressed by the Armenian Genocide Museum and ASPU Museum. She says each and every word about the Genocide has left an indelible mark in her mind.
Speaking about the host university - ASPU, Yana Dobesh confessed, “The university has many creative ideas. I would like to study at the ASPU within the framework of an exchange programme.”
Peter Bedok and Szabo Christian, both students of Pázmány Péter Catholic University (Hungary), visited Armenia in March. They say Armenia is a unique country and Armenians are warm, smiling and hospitable people.
Szabo Christian is glad to have been included in the team “Tork Angegh,” which symbolizes strength and courage and where everyone is ready to overcome all challenges. “I wish that Armenia would never lose its warm hospitality,” the Hungarian student said.
Peter Bedok has important personal reasons to love Armenia as he is going to take a Master’s programme in Armenian Studies at the ASPU. Talking to old.aspu.am, Peter said it was difficult for him to share his impressions of the Summer School programme: there was so much to say; every second left an unforgettable memory.
“I love Armenia and Artsakh very much,” Peter Bedok confessed pointing to a flag of Artsakh decorating the window of his room.
The Summer School programme implemented by the Student Council of Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU) in collaboration with the Youth Foundation of Armenia (YFA) is held for the fourth time this year. In conversation with old.aspu.am, Chairman of the ASPU Student Council, Nersik Margaryan, summed up the past five days of the programme, assuring us that ‘there are no boundaries among the participants.’ “The programme is based on national unity, solidarity, humanism, equality, friendliness and other key ideas,” he stressed.
He also emphasized the growing number of foreign participants which enables the organizers to present Armenia and Artsakh, their history, culture and traditions in wider circles.
Nersik Margaryan added that this year they have introduced National Food Day in the programme events, which is yet another opportunity to bring the multilingual participants of the programme closer to one another.
The programme will continue until August 19.
