The ‘giant walnut tree’ of Armenian cinema would turn 95 today․ On the occasion of the birthday of the famous film director, screenwriter and actor Frunze Dovlatyan, a temporary exhibition has opened at the History Museum of Armenian State Pedagogical University.
The photos, personal items and documents of the master, as well as a slide with the memories of students and relatives are presented. Viewers especially admire the master's suitcase which has accompanied him throughout his life.
In 1981-1997, Frunze Dovlatyan taught at the Faculty of Culture of Armenian State Pedagogical University. In 1992, he was awarded the title of Professor.
The items of the great film director were donated to the History Museum by Karine Muradyan, an ASPU graduate, a lecturer at the Chair of Camerawork, Artistic Photography and Socio-cultural Activities.
"The master was usually silent during the lessons․ That silence had enormous power and was educating. He had humane treatment and was simple, his humor and love for students were unsurpassed. He was very artistic while walking on the street as if he were on stage. It was impossible not to notice and love him," Karine Muradyan said in a conversation with old.aspu.am.
In the 1960s, the director of a number of films, including “Hello, It’s Me!”, “Saroyan Brothers”, “Delivery”, “Live Long”, “A Lonely Nut-Tree”, “Yearning”, and “Chronicle of Yerevan Days” was one of the decision-makers of the Soviet cinema.
The unique films made by the film director have a special place in the Armenian film history․ His contributions to the development of Armenian cinema is invaluable.
The exhibition will run until May 31.
