A fund named after Sergo Yeritsyan, a professor at ASPU, journalist, public speaker, intellectual and politician, has opened in the Central Library after Avetik Isahakyan in Yerevan. Yeritsyan’s family donated about 30 books written by the TV journalist and another 3000 from his personal library.
The ceremony was attended by public figures and and politicians, representatives of the educational sector, and members of the “Lorva dzor” patriotic union.
For many years, the Doctor of Philology (Sergo Yeritsyan) worked at the Faculty of Culture of ASPU, playing a major role in the development of broadcast journalism in Armenia.
The professor taught and educated a goal-oriented and thinking generation, instilled values and principles in students, taught them how to live and work.
In their speeches, the attendees gave the full depiction of Sergo Yeritsyan’s image as a man and a journalist, referring to his rich and productive activity in the educational sector of the country, his great contributions to the training of different generations of journalists, discoveries of episodes concerning the lives of Armenian philanthropists and unique manifestations of his life as a public figure and a publicist.
“Each program he hosted was a piece of art, a book with its own content, depth of study and powerful analysis," Ruben Mirzakhanyan, former rector of ASPU, president of the Tekeyan Cultural Association of Armenia, said when describing Sergo Yeritsyan while the later was working in television, particularly his years as a host of “Kartsiq” (“Opinion”) TV program.
Armen Amiryan, former Minister of Culture who also headed the Chair of Television and Radio Journalism, spoke about Sergo Yeritsyan's busy schedule and activities: he (Yeritsyan) managed to do all kinds of work during the day: starting from TV programs to lecturing and meetings. "His mind was busy with searching for an Armenian trace outside the country - in China, India, the USA and elsewhere, and to reveal the life of many Armenian philanthropists [outside Armenia] and put it on paper for the future generations," Armen Amiryan said.
Sergo Yeritsyan's son, Sargis Yeritsyan, presented his father's activity, his days that were so different from each other.
Sargis Yeritsyan has decided to continue his father's activity in the public sphere, and to preserve the traditions of the "Lorva Dzor" patriotic union.
The attendees took with them Sergo Yeritsyan's lessons of life about humanity and human love, which is a story of living and adding a new color to the life of our country every day.
