Future historians present reports about the capitals of Armenia

The first conference of the Historians’ Club of the ASPU Base College (High School) was held at the University on October 18.

The newly formed club is composed of about 55 pupils from the 10th-12th forms of the college. Fifteen of them made reports during the conference entitled “The Capitals of Armenia,” presenting remarkable facts about twelve capitals of Armenia.

The formation of the club within the framework of university-school cooperation was not accidental. The club was opened upon the initiative of Associate Professors of the Chair of Armenian History, Candidate of Science in Philology Armine Yeprikyan and Dr. Samvel Poghosyan.

They also teach History at the ASPU Base College, familiarizing the younger generation with Armenian history, as well as historical and cultural sites in the country.

“For many people here this is the first conference in life. During the conference you will try to present some interesting theme. There is no need to expect great scientific discoveries, but love for science starts from here which may lead many of you to the world of science,” Samvel Poghosyan said in his welcome speech.

Armine Yeprikyan assured everyone that there is much work to do in the near future. She added that the ongoing expeditions will be followed by new and more exciting projects.

Upon seeing the announcement posted in her school, Milena Barseghyan, an 11-th form pupil from the stream of Journalism, hurried to become a member of the club where everyone is eager to learn everything about the history of their country.

During the conference she will present the history of Shirakavan city and important facts about the city. She is sure that the facts about the city which served as the capital of Armenia during the Bagratid Kingdom will interest her friends becoming a source of new discoveries for them. She compiled the information from different sources.

The participants of the conference dedicated to the 2799th anniversary of Yerevan also presented reports about political, economic, religious and cultural centers of the country. The presentations were accompanied by posters and slideshows.
