Graduates of Faculty of History and Social Sciences receive graduation diplomas

The annual graduation ceremony started in ASPU in a festive atmosphere and high spirits. The first diplomas (graduate certificates) were handed over to 86 graduates of the Faculty of History and Social Sciences (34 bachelors and 22 masters), and to 30 students taking distance learning courses (28 of them received diplomas with honours).

The head of the Faculty and the chairmen of the attestation committees congratulated the graduates on the memorable and one of the important days in their lives.

Dean Edgar Hovhannisyan expressed hope that the knowledge gained at ASPU will serve for the benefit of graduates and the state. Armed with knowledge, they will be able to make the foundations of national education more solid and targeted.

He believes that in the first place, a state is strong if it has a strong national education system and that important mission is entrusted and assigned to them. “Be a dreamer, but also a realist to be able to realize those dreams. The mission of creating a strong nation state and a strong education system is reserved for you. no matter where you go and what your do, be true to your calling and mission," Mr. Hovhannisyan said.

ASPU graduate Vahe Torosyan said it was a great honour [for him] to chair the attestation committee in History, and a double honour to hand over graduation certificates to the graduates.

He adds that today, as always, teaching remains one of the most prestigious professions. Vahe cited one of the famous medieval sayings which says the prerequisites necessary for learning are a quiet place, a peaceful time, a will to teach and desire to learn.

Edik Gevorgyan, Head of the Chair of Armenian History, assured the graduates that they are ready for further cooperation and arming them with new professional knowledge.

Professor Gevorgyan added that ASMU graduates have always played an active role in the social and political life of the country.

Khachatur Stepanyan, Head of the Chair of World History, also joined the wishes on the occasion of the day and wished the graduates success in the new phase of their lives.

The professor confesses that much effort and dedication had been made and invested; they had not just fulfilled their daily duties, rather, they realized that today's students are the ones who will educate the next generation.

Khachatur Stepanyan advised the graduates to be patriotic and have pro-state attitude․ "A student of a bad teacher cannot be a good citizen and statesman. A teacher should bear high values; you are obliged to undertake that important mission, to devote your efforts and energy to be worthy of our martyrs. You will have many disappointments in your life, but as energetic young people entering a new life, you can and you must intill hope in everybody," he added.

Hayk Sukiasyan, Acting Head of the Chair of Social Sciences, added in turn that the students are graduating from one of the most sophisticated universities in the country. He hopes the future educators will take with them not only knowledge but also that wisdom and sophistication.

Davit Hakobyan, Chairman of the attestation committee in Sociology and Law, also advised the students to be free and independent while continuing their activity, and create works that will be universal.
