Handicraft exhibition opens at ASPU

A handicraft exhibition dedicated to the 100th anniversary of ASPU opened on November 11. The exhibition organized by the Chair of Technological Education of the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics featured the works by ASPU students majoring in Technology and Entrepreneurship, university graduates of different years, teachers and pupils of various schools of Armenia, ranging from felting samples to original woodwork and carpet weaving.

Scientific innovations created within the framework of diploma and research works were also put on display.

Artak Sahradyan, Head of the Chair of Technological Education, says the exhibition is a good opportunity to prove once again that the Pedagogical University is a smithy which educates high-quality teachers, pedagogues, and patriotic citizens.

Gayane Asatryan, a secondary school teacher in Armavir marz, is a graduate of ASPU. She admits that the carpets, dolls, and jewelry made by her and her students would not have such a good quality if it were not for the knowledge that ASPU gave her during her study at university.

Karine Shamiryan, a technology teacher of Yerevan Primary School №177, also had her works showcased at the exhibition dedicated to the 100th anniversary of ASPU. The certified feltmaker and teacher with more than 33 years of experience presented at the handicraft art of Marash Armenians - embroidered bags, scarves, various accessories. She is deeply impressed by the quality and diversity of the exhibited works.

Vladimir Mkrtchyan, a teacher of Primary School №2 in Abovyan, considers the first samples of khachkars (cross-stones) made by them a novelty in the exhibition. Talking to old.aspu.am, he said that the works made from paper, cardboard and school waste are the manifestation of love and dedication.
The long-time teacher says 30 years ago, when he started teaching "Technology", there was not even a textbook. Today there is a textbook, but sometimes the temptation to deviate from it is great.

More exhibitions of the same format will be organized giving an opportunity to participants to present new and interesting ideas, samples and designs created within the scope of the subject, and to promote exchange of experience among specialists.
