The start of “Thirty Healthy Days” – a programme involving volunteers at the Armenian Red Cross Society, lecturers of Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU) and a fitness coach, has been announced at the ASPU.
Twenty-five students of the Faculty of Special Education became the first participants of the course.
The volunteers gave the students tips for healthy lifestyle, speaking about problems with health and healthy eating, dwelling on the most common causes of non-communicable diseases (NCDs), their prevention and treatment, the negative impact of smoking and drinking on the body, etc.
Special reference was made to the effects of unhealthy food, importance of healthy eating habits and benefits of regular exercise.
The students were delighted to participate in the course that lasted about five hours. They were particularly interested in basic principles and rules of healthy eating and physical activity.
Within the 30 days of the programme, the future special education teachers will also participate in a healthy food cooking competition, a walking tour and weekly training.
