"Hello, Out There!, a play by Professor of the Chair of Directing Aida Hovhannisyan based on a one-act play of the same name by the Armenian-American playwright William Saroyan, has been presented to the public.
Non-professionals were on the professional stage, including students of ASPU’s "Tandem" studio, Youth Creative Center of Shengavit administrative district and "AidArt" theatre.
The play is about the love of a young couple who falls victim to the intolerance of citizens.
Throughout the play, the main character is in search You got to have someone of "someone", as Saroyan wrote in his play: " You got to have somebody staying with you all the time - through winter when it's cold, and springtime when it is pretty, and summertime when it's hot and nice and you can go swimming - through all the times—rain and snow and all the different kinds of weather a man's got to go through before he dies. And you got to have someone who is right. Somebody who knows you, from away back. You got to have somebody who knows you are wrong but likes you just the same. I know I am wrong but what can I do? If you go along with me, I’ll be the finest guy anybody ever saw. I won't be wrong any more…”
Today's young people who are future artists made the audience think that uncertainty is the most terrifying thing and nothing scares a person more than the feeling of not knowing what awaits him.
The director of the play (Aida Hovhannisyan) is happy with the results: such performances pave pleasant, though difficult path for young people. In addition, they are a unique forge for discovering talents.
"We are obliged to educate young people with art, especially today," Aida Hovhannisyan said assuring everybody that there are future artists with a bright future among them.
The audience agreed that although it is not easy to stage William Saroyan's works, the young people were able to overcome the difficulties with honour and present themselves convincing from the stage.
