Hungarian students visit ASPU

Students of the Mathias Corvinus Collegium in Hungary are on a three-day visit to the Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU) as part of the cooperation with the ASPU Hungarian Center.

The Hungarian students were hosted by ASPU Vice-Rector for HR Management and International Cooperation Marianna Harutyunyan and Dean of the Faculty of History and Social Science Edgar Hovhannisyan.

During the meeting, Marianna Harutyunyan presented the history of the century-old pedagogical university, the professions and talked about the collaborations with various educational institutions abroad, as well as the prospects and programs.

The Vice-Rector also touched upon Armenia’s educational system and, in this context, the role of the Armenian State Pedagogical University, teacher training and the relationship between schools and universities.

The Hungarian students inquired about the activities of the “Chess” Research Institute operating at the ASPU, chess education in Armenia, the characteristics of teaching chess, as well as the characteristics of teaching creative and non-pedagogical professions.

Marianna Harutyunyan voiced hope that the Hungarian students will pay many cognitive visits and make new discoveries in science and education during their visit.

During the meeting, Dean of the Faculty of History and Social Science Edgar Hovhannisyan touched upon the exceptional cooperation between Armenia and Hungary in the education sector, noting that this year marks the 10th anniversary of cooperation between the Armenian State Pedagogical University and Pázmány Péter Catholic University in Hungary.

Hovhannisyan emphasized that the restored relations between Armenia and Hungary helped solve a number of issues, including educational, social and humanitarian issues.

Edgar Hovhannisyan presented the jointly implemented programs, noting that the scientific-educational cooperation between the two Universities has entered a new stage over the past years (academic exchange programs have been carried out for students and professors, and the Chair of Armenian Studies has been working efficiently at the Pázmány Péter Catholic University for a long time).

Edgar Hovhannisyan also considered a major achievement the Hungarian Center, which was recently established at the Armenian State Pedagogical University and the activities of which were presented to the guests by Director of the Center Daniel Gadzik. The latter attached importance to the fact that the Center’s courses provide Armenian students with the opportunity to learn Hungarian, discover Hungary and Hungarian culture at no cost.

The Hungarian students expressed gratitude for the reception and voiced hope that the cooperation with the Armenian State Pedagogical University will continue in new and more diverse directions.
