KHACHATUR ABOVYAN ARMENIAN STATE PEDAGOGICAL UNIVERSITY

A few days ago, by the initiative of the Faculty of Education Psychology and Sociology, Department of Age and Pedagogical Psychology, an initiative was organized at the house museum of the Great Enlightener Khachatur Abovyan with the participation of pupils, teachers and Deputy Directors of Yerevan High Schools N103 and N127.

 The major aim of the event was to foster cooperation between the University and the school, support the school’s pupils’ professional orientation, introduce the profession of psychologists, opportunities and perspectives, psychologists’ role and functions in the sphere of education.

 During the meeting the ASPU lecturers presented the Pedagogical University, its history and chronology, spoke about the available specialisations particularly the Faculty of Education Psychology and Sociology with its Departments of narrow specialisations, as well as the privileges of studying at this University, wide scope of opportunities of working in education sector, and the Master’s Degree specialistaion in “ Psychological Consultancy in the Sphere of Education”. 

 Moreover, leading specialists of the sphere discussed with the pupils of the high-school the main psychological issues by presenting the experience they come across in their daily work emphasizing the importance of applying to a psychologist in difficult times.

 In their turn, the organizers mentioned in their interview to the old.aspu.am that the cooperation between the university and schools, as well as the necessity and importance of such events had always been and remained in the focus of the Faculty’s attention, were discussed numerous times during the sessions organized by the Department of Age and Pedagogical Psychology.

 At the end, the pupils visited the museum’s exhibition hall and the family home together with the excursion guides.
