“Who is the most important at the university? Of course, students. The better students feel at their Alma Mater, the stronger and more powerful the university will be,” Rector of Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU) Ruben Mirzakhanyan said during the opening ceremony of interfaculty sport competitions between male and female teams.
Teams from the University’s ten Faculties, School N57 and Base College /High-School/ will compete in different sports, including football, volleyball, chess, table tennis and shooting.
A board of jury comprised of lecturers from the Chair of Chess and Sports will judge the six-day competitions.
Talking to old.aspu.am, Nersik Margaryan, Chairman of the ASPU Student Council, said to this date competitions were held in definite sports. However, by a joint decision of the Student Council and Commission on Healthy Lifestyle, competitions in different sporting events will be held concurrently.
“ASPU representatives also have significant achievements in sports which is encouraged by the University’ss administration and their particular attention to a healthy lifestyle,” Nersik Margaryan said. He added that the University does everything for its students to participate and succeed in intercollegiate tournaments as well.
The current tournament is organized with the assistance of the SS Commission on Sports, Chess and Healthy Lifestyle (Chairman: Suren Yeghiazaryan), University-wide faculty committees, and Chair of Chess and Sports.
