An international conference dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the First Republic of Armenia was held at Armenian State Pedagogical University.
The conference entitled “Nation, State, Homeland: The Idea of Statehood” brought together representatives from Russia, Germany, Spain and Poland, as well as students and lecturers from various faculties of the university.
The participants made reports on the following directions of the conference - History, Political Science, International Relations, Law, Psychology and Sociology. They referred to the emergence and survival of the Armenian statehood, the idea of independence, psychological consequences of the Armenian Genocide, emergence of Nzhdeh ideology, etc.
Srbuhi Gevorgyan, ASPU Vice-Rector for Educational and Scientific Affairs, stressed that the number of participants increases year by year, which significantly contributes to the development Armenian studies (Armenology).
The vice-rector also highlighted the participation of students in the conference saying it can become a real platform for discussions, contribute to the exchange of experience and creation of new international ties.
Edgar Hovhannisyan, dean of the Faculty of History and Law, added in turn that the conference is a good opportunity to sum up with foreign partners the achievements and results in the scientific and educational spheres. He added that such initiatives will help future historians, lawyers and social scientists to promote humanitarian sciences.
The foreign participants of the conference were received by ASPU Rector Ruben Mirzakhanyan. The rector introduced the University, and emphasized cooperation on an international level. He stressed that the University is ready to expand ties, creating new opportunities for its lecturers and future educators.
Representatives of the University of A Coruña (Spain) said many Armenian students study at their university and they are likewise interested in cooperation with the Armenian university. They said they would like their Master’s theses to be supervised by specialists of the two sides.
The ASPU rector stressed that the University already has such experience and presented other scientific achievements of the educational institution.
The international conference was organized by the ASPU Faculty of History and Law for the third time.
