It all starts in early childhood: Conference starts at ASPU

A conference entitled "Problems in Primary Education System" was held at Armenian State Pedagogical University on April 5. In their reports, the speakers presented the results of their research carried out in the field of primary education, alternative approaches, as well as contemporary teaching technologies.

Srbuhi Gevorgyan, ASPU Vice-Rector for Educational and Scientific Affairs, emphasized the importance of the traditional conference saying it would become a starting point for many participants on their path of scientific research. She recommended the attendees to collaborate with faculties and chairs to develop research and present their findings on the relevant platforms.

“It all starts in early childhood. If we fail to form children's value system from early age, all work will be ineffective in the future,” Professor Julieta Gyulamiryan said. She assured everyone that pre-school and primary school ages are the most effective stage for human development. To miss that important period means to seriously violate the entire process of human development.

The professor was glad to add that the interests and problems of children of that age group are studied by students of the Faculty of Primary Education who try to study them on scientific levels.

Heghine Khachatryan, Dean of the Faculty of Primary Education, advised the students to speak freely, be able to present the results of their research correctly and be ready for a question-and-answer session with the audience, which, she stressed, would ensure a more literate platform for such initiatives.

Lusine Poghosyan, Deputy Dean of the Faculty for Science and International Cooperation, added in turn that this year's conference has one important particularity - all submitted reports had a research component. The objective is to promote the development of professional competencies to do further research in the field of pedagogy.

“Raise [in your reports] controversial issues, even in the least probability. Very often, they become the beginning of success and large-scale research,” said Professor Volodya Karapetyan and, on the threshold of the final examinations, advised the students to be honest and fair in carrying out their professional activities.
