“Education is the only way to stand the challenges of the 21st century, despite the fact that it is also going through deep recession. Information technologies have become major and powerful competitors of education; in order not to lose, one should cooperate with the competitor in the same field by utilising its tools”, mentioned the Dean of the Faculty of Primary Education Ms. Heghinei Khachatryan at the republican scientific session on the topic “Primary Education Issues”.
In her opinion, children’s interest in technologies is gradually increasing, instead, it is decreasing in education; hence, we need to rush and initiate relevant steps. The age of receiving primary education is the time for understanding issues and forming personality, it is a beneficial age for learning.
“We need to create a child-centred educational environment, where they will be able to overcome issues on their own”, added Heghinei Khachatryan.
The latter also assured that the time had come to prepare a concept note to regulate the sphere, which would allow to unite the representatives of the sphere such as directors, teachers and to jointly discuss concept provisions.
In her turn, the Vice –Rector for Academic Affairs Srbouhi Gevorgyan thinks that sometimes people are not having enough conversations with their children, which has specific impact on latter’s development.
“Lack of talks also influences education and learning processes, and primary education is the important period when a child’s characteristic features are being developed.”
The Vice-Rector hopes that such scientific sessions will allow to review the approaches, as well as to develop the capacity and targeted problem solving skills for the team of professionals.
“Science, education practice – this is the chain that needs to be strengthened by creating bridges between these components”, mentioned the Head of the Chair of Preschool Pedagogy and Methodology Mr. Vladimir Karapetyan and added that the issues of primary education were in the core of attention throughout the world as there were a lot a reforms going on in that sphere.
In his opinion the Pedagogical University should be the generator of teaching ideas, creating new approaches and methods.
Furthermore, the speakers referred to the modern paradigm of preschool education and childhood issues, and noticed that children’s health and healthcare matters were left out of the scope of serious concerns.
“According to the results of studies on healthcare issues, 75% of illnesses of a grown-up person were formed therein at the age of childhood”, assured Professor Julietta Gyulamiryan and added that the errors and consequences made by the grown-ups in the process of organizing their children’s life at early age were most dangerous.
In Professor’s opinion there was only one way out; instead of involving children in the race of developing knowledge, education would rather be made interesting, exciting and motivating with the emphasis on the process of digesting skills that would contribute to gaining intellect.
“We should first of all start with educating teachers and parents”, added Ms. Julietta Gyulamiryan.
The activities within the scope of the republican scientific session “Primary Education Issues” continued in groups, where participants raised the related field issues through Q&A sessions and discussions, and outlined their future steps.
