Today, the RA NAS presidency building hosted the last farewell ceremony of Georg Brutyan- Doctor of Philosophy, Professor, RA NAS Academician, President of the International Academy of Philosophy, President of the Armenian Academy of Philosophy, President of the ASPU International Research Institute of Metaphilosophy, Transformational Logic and Argumentation.
Members of the Management Committee, including the NAS President, Academician Radik Martirosyan, the ASPU Rector Rouben Mirzakhanyan, scientists, colleagues, and representatives of different philosophic schools attended the civil funeral ceremony.
“The science of philosophy underwent an immense loss in the name of Georg Brutyan; as an irreplaceable and capable researcher he dedicated his life to the patriotic task of preparing new resources in the sphere of science and education. Throughout different years he ran academic departments, centers, organized wide scope of international conferences, established an international philosophic center, delivered lectures,” the RA NAS President Radik Martirosyan mentioned in his speech.
Likewise, he noticed that in his years of Vice-Presidency Georg Brutyan conducted consistent activities particularly in the direction of establishing international relations which he managed successfully. His ideas and scientific statements were and will stay in the focus of interest of various researchers.
“The one alive closes the eyes of the one passed away, but the one who passed away, opens the eyes of the one alive”, the Head of the ASPU Department of Philosophy and Logic Hasmik Hovhannisyan reminded one of the outstanding philosophical ideas during the farewell ceremony and noticed that life became the transformed manifestation of the favourite thought.
“He lived to open the eyes of those alive, and passed away to remain in the world science history, in the hearts of colleagues, students and acquaintances for ages”.
Furthermore, Hasmik Hovhannisyan presented some of the condolatory letters received on the decease of the Academician; in those letters prominent scientists and founders of scientific centers of various countries of the world expressed their deepest condolences on the decease of the academician.
“As a manager he was strict, demanding and disciplined; he was applying all these features first of all towards himself. It is difficult to put in new words in philosophy, still he found the main field of his studies –the school of philosophic logic and argumentation which is also proved by international philosophers. It was difficult to go through the school of one of the pillars of Armenian philosophy, of Georg Brutyan”, the NAS Academician Gevorg Poghosyan mentioned in his condolatory speech; moreover, he considered himself very lucky for the opportunity of working with the great scientist, outstanding philosopher Georg Brutyan.
Similarly, the Academician assured that Georg Brutyan broke the existing stereotype that philosophers are people isolated from the rest of the world; instead, he loved the life and infected everybody with his unlimited energy.
Furtheron, the student of Georg Brutyan, Candidate of Philosophy, Associate Professor, the ASPU Lecturer of Logic Hovhannes Hovhannisyan mentioned in his speech to the old.aspu.am that the Academician Brutyan was a world class outstanding figure and that was stated by the fact that a number of concept papers and principles were named after him.
The President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan, the NA President Galust Sahakyan as well as the Mayor of Yerevan Taron Margaryan were also present at the funeral ceremony of Georg Brutyan.
