The Pedagogical University hosted the open discussion lecture delivered by the Head of the Chair of Armenian Studies of the Pázmány Péter Catholic University of Budapest, PhD Balint Kovalch.
During the lecture, the Hungarian specialist of Armenian Studies spoke about the formation of the Armenian Diaspora in the Central and Eastern Europe, its development and current issues.
Likewise, the speaker mentioned about the existing contradictions between the old and new Diasporas in Hungary, referred to the issue of Armenians therein not knowing their mother tongue, stressing out that the establishment of the Chair of Armenian Studies at the Catholic University could serve as an important way of solution.
“Besides, the Chair plays an important role as well as in introducing the History of Armenia through the perspective of existing publications about the Genocide.”
What is more, the Head of the Chair of Armenian Studies of the Catholic University considered the Pedagogical University’s students’ exchange programmes as mutually beneficial, highlighting that thanks to that language obstacles were being overcome and new educational methods were acquired.
To conclude, in his interview to the old.aspu.am Balit Kovalch mentioned that in near future, by the joint efforts with the “Galust Kyulpenkyan” foundation, the Chair was going to set up five scholarships which the ASPU students can also apply for.
