Film director Lili Elbakyan, a theatre and film actress, Acting Associate Professor at the Chair of Directing, has registered a new achievement in her career.
Recently, she won Armenian National Film Academy’s “Anahit” national film award in the "Best Actress" category for her role as the main character in "Chnchik" - a film by Director Aram Shahbazyan. The story tells about a girl with mental retardation whose physical handicap and “otherness” makes her the object of ridicule, and is not accepted by society.
"Chnchik” was my first serious role in movies. I received the offer to star in the film when I was still a freshman. My lecturer was against the idea of acting in films during the years of study, that’s why I refused the role. During the next five years the script was still being changed and developed. When everything was ready, Director Aram Shahbazyan offered me the role again. I had already graduated from institute. The role was interesting, and the offer was tempting. I agreed and participated in the casting,” Lili Elbakyan told old.aspu.am adding that the award was unexpected and doubled her joy and excitement.
The Pedagogical University congratulates Lili Elbakyan and wishes her new achievements in life.
