A few days ago, within the scope of the course on “Family Life and Social Psychology” in the Faculty of Philology an interdisciplinary seminar –discussion was organized on the topic of “Love in Art and Psychology”.
The second year students of the Faculty’s Department of Armenian Language and Literature, together with the lecturer of Psychology Asya Katunyan, tried to demonstrate manifestation of love in art, which interested humankind, and gave scientific, psychological definitions thereto.
The students divided into two groups: the “Scientific group” conducted psychological surveys and test the results of which were compared with the provisions of known theories.
Besides, they presented scientific facts about love together with comments of outstanding psychologists.
The “Artistic group” presented extracts from well-known literary pieces; besides, poems of Armenian and Russian authors were recited.
The auditorium was turned into the exhibition hall for students’ works: there was classical music and the students’ recitations were accompanied by short videos related to the topic.
Similarly, aiming to show personal manifestations of love, the students performed songs (M.Haykanush) about love and presented authored poems (P. Ani).
Within the scope of the seminar, the students were able to distinguish the peculiarities of love- the highest feeling of humanity, and its manifestation features in art, as well as made interesting conclusions.
“The students worked with excitements and to their deepest understanding they re-discovered love” Asa Katunyan mentioned in her interview to the old.aspu.am, while the Deputy Dean of the Philological Faculty added that such seminars were very important from the perspective of expanding the learners’ mindset and were, in fact, a great present for the New Year.
