From 25-26 March, the Lecturers and students of the Faculty of Arts Education welcomed the lecturing artists of the Pedagogical University of the city of Nankin, China.
On the first day, Professor of History of Art Sue Rey introduced the Chinese artistic language, disclosing the spatial features of national painting and peculiarities of color sensation and performing arts. Through a wide use of display material Professor Rey drew parallels between the European and Chinese arts, highlighting their key differences.
During the second meeting, a master class session was organised by Calligrapher, Professor Liang Phei Sien, who presented this most important part of Chinese arts, told about the history of creation of brushes and paints for calligraphy, with their most subtle features.
The master class proceeded to practical work and a Q&A session conducted by the ASPU students. The attendants thanked the Chinese guests and organisers of the event for the provided opportunity. According to them, this kind of initiatives are interesting, much-expected and will contribute to strengthening the Chinese-Armenian relationship and the cultural discourses between these two countries.
We would like to mention that still in the previous year the Dean of the Faculty of Art Education, Doctor of Arts, Professor Ara Hakobyan and the Lecturer of the Chair of Fine Arts Melckon Avetisyan visited the Pedagogical University in the Nankin city of People’s Republic of China. In the course of the trip, the visitors got familiarized with Chinese culture and the activities developed at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the given University. And last but not least, during their stay in Nankin, the representatives of the Pedagogical University delivered master class sessions that created great interest among the Chinese professors and students.
