The Chair of Professional Education and Applied Pedagogy organized a conference with the participation of MA students, which was dedicated to the 25th anniversary of Armenia’s Independence.

Aida Topuzyan, Head of the Chair of Professional Education and Applied Pedagogy, Doctor of Pedagogy and Professor, stressed the importance of the conference, saying those MA students are the descendants of the generation of independence who have passed through all difficulties and challenges with our country. “Armenians can surprise other nations with their intelligence, diligence and courage. We have proved this on the border and in all corners [of the world] where each Armenian does his work with a high sense of responsibility and dedication,” the Professor said. She added that as usual the results of students’ research papers would be published in a collection that will be co-authored by their supervisors.
Srbuhi Gevorgyan, ASPU Vice-Rector for Educational and Scientific Affairs, stressed once again that four years ago the University adopted a policy that focuses on the Master’s degree programmes and courses.
“Adaptation of educational document, their conformity with the standards of the best educational institutions, transparency in the selection of research topics… Those are all priorities for us,” the Vice-Rector said advising the students to do research in areas that will not only interest local specialists but also foreign partners of the Pedagogical University. She considered it to be a real chance for students to continue their studies in leading international institutions.
Heghine Khachatryan, Dean of Faculty of Primary Education, said although she is concerned with the growing competition between computers and modern IT, teachers and learners, she is sure that it is possible to take up all challenges by preparing good specialists and learners.
“The rapid development of newest technologies even addresses main problems in education: what to do and how to do it?” Heghine Khachatryan said. She expressed hope that the conference, which is organized at the end of each academic year, would develop the aforesaid concept.
Ruzanna Petrosyan, Dean of the Faculty of Education Psychology and Sociology, added, in turn, that the conference speaks to the fact that ‘our future generation will have good educators.’ “Provided that we have an educated generation we can have a healthy society,” she said. The plenary session was followed by activities in parallel sections chaired by Candidates of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professors Hakob Tadevosyan and Lusine Poghosyan.
In their works, the students discusses the characteristics of social pedagogy, its essence and problems, as well as socialization and behavioral problems of elementary school pupils, understanding and determination of the causes of violent behaviour, ways of prevention and issues of pedagogical diagnostics.
This was followed by a Q&A session, discussions and analyses which will help improve the Master dissertations and theses.
