“We must last. And it is you, who ensures the long-lasting of our language, you have a huge mission in that task when teaching to Armenian children in various countries of the word”, the RA People’s Artist, illustrious Composer Tigran Mansouryan mentioned during the meeting with teachers of the Armenian Diaspora, who were participating in training sessions at the APSU.
The meeting passed in a Q&A format; the teachers were interested in the path that linked his art with the art of Komitas, the role of Armenian music in the world music, the composer’s fulfilled and not yet dreams, etc.
“I wouldn’t dare assessing Komitas, just like Alexander Block responded to the journalist’s request to assess Pushkin’s poetry. He is the founder of Armenian composing art, who managed to combine and crystalize several layers of music”.
Tigran Mansouryan told how his father was always performing Komitas’ pieces in their house, and that he grew in an atmosphere absorbed with Komitas’ spirit. When evaluating his own art, the Maestro noticed that throughout the years he remained music loving since that was a lifestyle, an impossibility to live without music.
Further on, speaking about the musicality of Armenian language, the Composer ensured that music and the Armenian language were closely connected with each other.
“With all of its emphasis and sounds it already becomes music.”
With a retrospective analysis of his rich heritage the Maestro confessed though that he had many debts; and even though we had huge sources of spiritual music, still during the independence years we had not been able to give them new charm, to present from greatest stages and stay true to the kind.
The Head of the “Spyurk” [Diaspora] research centre, Professor Souren Danielyan expressed his acknowledgements for the already traditional meeting, assuring the it allowed the teachers of the Diaspora to keep their image bright and to pass it on as a unique characteristic feature.
“We have the right to turn back and to observe what great figures have sparkled and are still sparkling in the history of the World Music. And in that history, you are a leader for us with your ability to spread the Armenian in our emotional field. You gave us an immense world with your music which we can express our feelings and patriotism through”, mentioned professor Danielyan and advised to the Maestro to enjoy the endless love that exists both in Armenia and in the Diaspora from the heights of his age of eighty.
In their turn the teachers of the Diaspora thanked for the warm and cordial meeting, with a separate speech recalled of their former meetings with the Maestro throughout various years and assured that this meeting was like a golden thread in the course of the training sessions, which they were going to take back with themselves as a souvenir.
Last but not least, the participants of the meeting had a chance to enjoy one of the Composer’s works – live performance of the “Piece of Sky” [Ktor me erkink].
