On July 9, ASPU Rector Ruben Mirzakhanyan met Diaspora Armenian teachers who are participating in a training course at the University.
In his opening remarks, the rector said the suggestions and observations presented during the meeting would help them organize next training courses at a higher level.
Ruben Mirzakhanyan presented the activities of the University, international cooperation and its importance. He emphasizes that the Pedagogical University has a serious role in the national education system.
The Diaspora teachers first thanked the organizers of the training, then they spoke about everyday educational issues they encounter in their countries.
Haykanush Gasparyan, assured everyone that the more experienced she becomes is in the sphere, the greater her thirst for the new material becomes.
The teacher also shared her concern: there is a need for united textbooks and trained teachers who will teach with these textbooks. “Each of us should be guided by love for homeland,” she said.
During the meeting, the participants also stressed the need for adding the hours of psychology and other disciplines, improving the quality of new teachers and organizing new training courses.
It was suggested to open a Chair of Armenian Study in Ukraine, which will enable Armenians living in the country to deepen their knowledge of the language.
Ruben Mirzakhanyan promised to discuss the proposal with the National Pedagogical Dragomanov University (University) and find a possible solution.
Most of the teachers were interested in the possibility of teaching Armenian as a foreign language. Suren Danielyan, Head of the Spyurq [Diaspora] educational centre, said a good educational platform has been created at the University thanks to the training courses which allows discussing the problems faced by the Diaspora Armenian teachers and finding joint solutions.
The Diaspora Armenian teachers walked around the University, visited the History museum and library and photographed in memory of the wonderful opportunity at the Pedagogical University.
